What makes a successful community? We believe that it is the interdependent collaboration of many people that helps communities to thrive. At the heart is successful families. Padres Unidos is more than a service organization, it is a mechanism of success. It is families walking with families through a needs-based approach. It is also the meeting point of funders, higher education, schools, community centers, and other stakeholders working alongside families. We believe that thriving families bolster community partners in return to a mutual benefit. When we are all working in concert, then our communities become vibrant places to live. “I’m an immigrant in this country and, like many immigrants, we need support, guidance, connection. Luckily, with the hand of Padres Unidos members, my family and I were not only able to connect, but we developed great family ties with people who were not related by blood. Padres Unidos helped me realize how important is to pursue my dreams. They inspired me to go to college, gave me resources, moral support and ten years later I have a master’s degree!
